Originally designed in 1908 by Alessandro Butti for the Nebiolo type foundry in Turin, Italy, Torino is a modern, italic Didone revived, redrawn and expanded by Jason Walcott containing a number of elegant swash characters, discretionary ligatures, tabular and lining figures and Western and Central European extended language support. About the designer: Jason Walcott was born in Michigan in 1971, grew up in New Jersey, and now resides in Southern California. He graduated cum laude from Kean College of New Jersey (now Kean University) in 1997 with a BFA in Illustration. Having always had an interest in type and graphic design along with his art training, Jason designed his first typeface in spring of 2000. Walcott's fonts were originally sold under the name "JAW Fonts" until he partnered with Veer in the spring of 2003. At that time the font library was re-launched as the Jukebox Collection and is now available exclusively through Veer.com.
