A custom stencil font for architects, designed in 2006 by Fabrizio Schiavi.
Siruca™ has been designed for the Al Hamra Complex, next to one of the highest skyscrapers in the world, the Al Hamra Tower in Kuwait. The client, Duccio Grassi Architects, was bidding with SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill) of New York, the designers of the skyscraper, for the design and production of the complex.
The font was created with the aim of obtaining a stencil very readable with a contemporary looking. Stencil because you can use either through the traditional use of masks through, and because it could be achieved with neon tubes. Rounded ends and the absence of sharp corners to prevent abrasion during the use of masks and simultaneously provide a realistic path to the neon designers.
The typeface is accompanied by a series of pictograms designed with the same criteria and the combined use make it more immediate understanding of the signages of the building.
See the FSD site for more info on Siruca.
