Heinrich Jost was born 13 October 1889 in Magdeburg, Germany, and died 27 September 1948 in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a typographer, type designer and graphic designer. Jost trained as a bookseller and also attended courses at the Kunstgewerbe und Handwerkerschule in Magdeburg under Paul Renner and Emil Preetorius. He became art director of the Bauersche type foundry in Frankfurt am Main.
